Welcome to the 2011-2012 Delbrook Steve
Nash Basketball Season!
Skills and Drills were a great success with
the help of Larry Donohoe, Mike Morgan and their Carson Senior Boys’ Team. Kids
and coaches alike learned new skills and drills and got a great warm-up to the
upcoming season. Thanks to Doug Cruikshank and Cecilia Cairns for their many
hours spent processing and distributing pinnies to almost the 400 players in
our league (and thanks to the parents that helped them!).
HUGE thanks to our AGCs who have worked
tirelessly on team formation, satisfying ever-changing practice night requests,
and juggling the many criteria that go into forming a basketball team. They
hope to have produced balanced teams ready for a fun, yet competitive
basketball season.
We are excited to have been joined this
year by teams from West Vancouver and Seymour’s Steve Nash Basketball leagues.
We have 3 teams joining the 4/5 boys’ division from West Van and 2 teams
joining from Seymour to make a terrific 12 team game schedule; both leagues
have entered 2 teams each for the 6/7 boys’ division to make a record 13 team
game schedule!; and 1 team of 6/7 girls comes to us from Seymour. Thanks to Don
Larson for creating all of these amazing schedules!
West Vancouver will be hosting games at
Rockridge Secondary School and Seymour will be hosting games at the Parkgate
Community center. Delbrook teams will only have to travel once (or maybe twice)
to each location – hopefully players and parents alike will enjoy the
excitement of an ‘away’ game.
I would like to thank all of the volunteer
Delbrook Basketball Board members for all of their hard work getting the new
season up and running. September is a busy month for all parents so for our
Board members it can sometimes get crazy! Thanks for doing what you do and for
the sacrifices your families make so you can dedicate time to our great league.
The Delbrook Basketball League wouldn’t exist without you!
Have a great season everyone!
